Workshop
Before you Buy your Bike….
Many bike shops use “Johnny Afterschool” to assemble new bikes. The bike is then given directly to you with, perhaps, a quick check by the shop mechanic.
At Cycle Works, the bikes are built in the first instance by a qualified mechanic, and then given a comprehensive check and test ride by a second mechanic. Both mechanics are experienced and trained to our exacting standards. During the check & test ride, the second mechanic uses a printed full page list to ensure that nothing, safety or otherwise, is missed. Each mechanic signs off on the checklist and the Serial No. of the bike is recorded. The checklist is retained for quality control purposes. You can be sure that your bike has had the best possible preparation.
When you take delivery…
Now you’re riding…
From the day you take delivery to the day you sell the bike, you are automatically covered by our Labour Free guarantee. This means that between your scheduled services, if your bike needs additional adjustment or repair, you won t pay for labour….
If your chain breaks, your gears need adjusting or a tire wears out, you only pay for the parts. There are some exceptions to this guarantee explained below.
Does a mechanical warranty mean you are committed to an expensive and excessive regime of servicing ? Not at Cycle Works.
Free servicing for your new bike….
Ongoing Service Program….
After these free services, you will automatically go on to our scheduled servicing program. We recommend that with average use, your bicycle should be serviced every six months. We will send you a reminder each time your bike is due. If however, you receive your reminder and you call us and say, for example…
I’ve only ridden my bike twice since the last service … That s OK. We will send you another reminder when you think it will be more appropriate.
Exceptions to the “Labour Free” guarantee..
There are three exceptions to the Labour Free guarantee. When we re-schedule your services as above, the Labour Free guarantee is simply suspended from the date the service was due, until the date it is actually done. Then it resumes in full.
The second exception is accidental damage. If you ride into a tree, or buckle a wheel, we will charge normal labour.
The last exception is this. If the bike comes in for a service and we see that something needs replacing, we will show you the item and explain why it needs replacing. If you say…. No, don t replace it. That s OK. But if it fails during the guarantee period, you will still be charged labour for the repair involved.
